With so many projects on the horizon for Marvel Studios, there are now dozens of new characters that need to be cast. One project that hasn’t been discussed much to date has been a potential Young Avengers project, although it’s becoming clearer that Kevin Feige and his team are looking to go down that path, especially with the news that has just released. Two new reports from Geeks WorldWide and Illuminerdi have shed light on the possible casting of Teddy Altman, AKA Hulkling, in Wandavision.

According to a casting sheet, the team is reportedly looking for a male between the ages of 15 and 20 to play Altman, who is described as a “Skrull who requires help from S.W.O.R.D. in order to remain safely on Earth”.

If these reports prove to be true, this could mean that one of the roles of the early version of S.W.O.R.D. in the MCU is to provide safe haven for alien refugees. We know that the space organization is set to officially debut in this show. Perhaps the events of Avengers: Endgame sent a message to the universe that the Earth is safe haven from all forms of galactic threats. Having the character debut in WandaVision makes sense given the romantic connection of Hulkling to one of Wanda and Vision’s twins, Billy Kaplan, in the comics. The series could explore the early stages of the relationship or simply introduce the two characters to one another.

WandaVision is proving to be a game-changer for the MCU and it could plant seeds not just for the Doctor Strange sequel but for the Young Avengers group as well moving forward. The good news is we can find out how all of this plays out when the series debuts on Disney+ in the latter part of 2020.
