Entertainment Weekly got a chance to sit down with Idris Elba, as he discusses his involvement with the upcoming film Thor: Ragnarok. The actor has become quite a fan favorite part of the Thor franchise thanks to his portrayal of the Asgardian guardian Heimdall. The actor has also been quite busy with three more films coming out this year, The Mountain Between Us and Molly’s Game. He has made quite a name for himself over the last few years, which made some wish he had a larger role in the MCU. It seems that they were not the only one with that wish.

I like that I have a little part in Thor. I’m neither movie star or day player. It allows me to do other things I love. The last one [Ragnarok] was fun. The others weren’t fun. They’re work. But on this one, Taika [Waititi, the director] was great.I wish I was more present in the Marvel family. I like what I have, but I also wish that I had a bigger character in the Marvel universe. It’s been great, but I kinda think I need a bit more. I want to be a superhero. I like the idea of that.

It certainly seems that the actor is ready for a larger role and hopefully he might get to do so as part of the MCU. There is the possibility for him to return in some fashion. Ragnarok might be the end for many of the Asgardian characters that were introduced, especially with Hela’s major role in the film. Moreover, we have seen some re-castings before in the franchise and given an interesting twist. There is the possibility that Heimdall is reincarnated on earth. Maybe every Asgardian has a human doppelganger. Personally, Elba would be an interesting candidate to portray Adam Brashear, also known as the Blue Marvel. Brashear has the potential to get his own film and could connect the cosmic and earth sides of the universe. He would make a great addition that may even spin-off out of a Captain Marvel sequel.

Who do you think? What character would you want him to play if he got another chance at a role?
