As we near the premiere date of Avengers: Infinity War, one thing we’re sure fans can’t wait to hear are the early reactions and reviews by the press to the film. Traditionally, big tentpole films such as the Marvel films get screened to a bunch of film journalists as early as 2 weeks before the premiere, with reviews slated to come out a week or so after. Well, that isn’t the case with Avengers: Infinity War as reviews and reactions are expected to come out mere days before the film’s premiere.

From what I am hearing — and to answer a bunch of similar responses — this late embargo has nothing at all to do with concerns about the movie and everything to do with concerns about major reveals and plot twists. This is exactly how Disney treats its STAR WARS movies, btw

Looks like Marvel wants to keep their cards close to their chest, opting to go to the Star Wars route of keeping every spoiler-y detail under extreme lock and key for as long as they can. The events of Avengers: Infinity War are said to be so game-changing that the title of Avengers 4 can’t be revealed until AFTER Infinity War. Generally, reviews embargos that are lifted days before a premiere are perceived to be a troubling sign of the studio making sure no one hears that their film is bad but with James Gunn‘s recent Twitter raves and the overall confidence Marvel has with this film, you know it’s going to be good regardless of when they let reviews out.
