Just when things were starting to get good, Netflix has canceled Marvel’s Iron Fist for good. Fans have been anticipating a third season ever since the second season delivered a high-note of a conclusion. Netflix released this statement:

Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.

It’s first blood for the Marvel-Netflix shows. This marks the first official cancellation of any of the Marvel-Netflix shows since Defenders was never confirmed to be canceled, to begin with. We imagine that Netflix was still not satisfied with their viewership numbers of the second season despite the warmer reception. While all this may be unfortunate news, the Deadline report says that Disney is looking at the upcoming streaming service as a potential home for the now-defunct series. Here’s hoping it all works out in the end!
