Iron Fist is a black sheep among the Netflix Marvel shows. The show itself was given mostly mixed to negative reviews. Its biggest flaw may have been that it promised a kung-fu show and gave us something closer to corporate espionage with a dash of kung fu. There are naturally many different problems the show faced but it was watched often enough to get a second season. Danny Rand (Finn Jones) will also make an appearance in the upcoming second season of Luke Cage, which promises a tease for the Heroes for Hire. Showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker had an interview with AllHipHopTV and was hopeful that the character would receive a more positive feedback after his appearance in the upcoming season.

“It doesn’t bother me that people have criticized Iron Fist on his series and on The Defenders. I’m arrogant enough to think that Iron Fist appearing on our show has a different sensibility. And so, it’s like—that’s the thing—I’m not dissuaded by that because Iron Fist, I think, is a dope character. And I think when you see Iron Fist within the realm of Luke Cage, and the way that we do things, I think—hopefully—that people are going to come to appreciate the character differently, and hopefully that swagger that he’ll get from appearing in the Luke Cage universe will carry over into [Iron Fist Season 2].”

The second season of Iron Fist received a new showrunner and there are rumors that it might be shorter to ensure a better pacing. His appearance in The Defenders did not help as his arrogance helped The Hand reached their end goal and made him once again look like a child having a tantrum. The best moments involved Cage and Rand playing off of each other, as their outlook on the world and backgrounds make them interesting opposites. Cage puts Rand in his place, so we might get more of that in the upcoming season.

Are you looking forward to the cameo? Do you think this is a sign for a Heroes for Hire show?
