Back in May, the folks over at Marvel confirmed what we’d all expected since she joined the cast of Jessica Jones, that actress Carrie-Anne Moss would be reprising her role as Jeri Hogarth in the upcoming Iron Fist series. And while there hasn’t been too much released concerning her character’s role in the series, thanks to our staff that was on hand at NYCC last week, we know that Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mentions Hogarth by name while confronting the Meachum siblings. With Hogarth set to serve as Danny’s lawyer, much like her comic counterpart, Jeryn Hogarth, it isn’t too surprising to hear that the character will have an “extremely important” role in the show. Still, it’s nice to hear just that from showrunner Scott Buck.
Taking some time to speak with the folks over at Comic Book Resources while at NYCC, Buck made it a point to stress that Hogarth will play a large part in Danny’s story/journey in the first season of Iron Fist.
“She has an extremely important role in Danny’s life,” executive producer Scott Buck confirmed at New York Comic Con. “I can’t really reveal anything about it, unfortunately, but she’s very involved in our story and Danny’s journey.”
And while Buck couldn’t really delve too much into Moss’ role in the series, Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb, was willing to talk up her character’s role a bit more. Given that we’re familiar with Hogarth courtesy of Jessica Jones (and the season two finale of Daredevil), going into Iron Fist, we already have a good understanding of the character. Hogarth is rather manipulative and crude, so seeing her clash with Danny, whom Loeb notes has a certain “hopeful optimism”, should prove to be rather interesting.
“I think one of the things that’s a lot of fun is, you know, you’ve already met Carrie-Anne Moss’ character,” added Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb. “Danny has very much a hopeful optimism about him, and Carrie-Anne obviously lives in a different kind of world, and so being able to see those two worlds collide is just the beginning of the many obstacles that he goes through.”
Iron Fist, which will hit Netflix on March 17th, 2017, stars Finn Jones as the titular character and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing. If you haven’t already, or you just want to re-watch it again, you can check out the official first trailer by heading over here.
