Noticeably absent from all the Thor: Ragnarok press and promotional material these past few months were Thor staples The Warriors Three and Lady Sif. Ever since the first Thor film, these underrated characters have been slowly relegated to almost-forgettable bit players in favor of their more popular co-characters, causing fans to wonder whether they’ll even be included in Thor: Ragnarok or not. While some evidence surfaced last year hinting at the return of Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg, Sif’s reappearance has always been uncertain. Well now, it appears that star Jaimie Alexander may indeed return for the threequel according to how she was introduced in a promo for Chris Hardick‘s AMC talk show.

This is pretty surprising news considering how vocal Alexander was about the uncertainty of her return in the final Thor film for the current MCU slate. Over the past several months since Ragnarok was announced, Alexander has given varying answers about her return, at one point saying that Sif would have a pivotal role to later revealing how doubtful Sif’s return would be. Her return started also to look more unlikely once her TV show Blindspot took off.

Like I mentioned above, along with the Warriors Three, Sif has always been a heavily underused character in the Thor stories. Alexander is a fantastic actress and plays Sif with a kind of hardened bravado that manages to come off as endearing. Her brief appearances in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were fun as hell too. It’s a shame that the romantic angle between her and Thor in Thor: The Dark World never came to fruition. And it’ll be an even bigger shame if she and the Warriors Three were nowhere to be seen in Thor: Ragnarok. Thankfully, it’s looking more likely that we’ll have them.
