James Gunn is currently in the process of penning Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and has not been shy about telling fans what we may and may not see in the upcoming sequel. Just last week he revealed how many new faces we could see in the sequel and we speculated on just who they could be.
Taking to his Facebook page to announce another cast member in an upcoming film he’s producting, Gunn replied to a comment from a fan asking about Kang possibly appearing in the Guardians sequel. Thanks his response, we now know for certain that Kang will not be in the MCU in the near future.
Kang would have been an interesting choice for a villain in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but it is hard to speculate what his role could have been without knowing too much about the direction of the film. There are many aspects to the Fox and Marvel agreement that we currently do not know, and it is still possible that Marvel could get the rights back soon if Fox does not use the character in their own film.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which starts filming in February, is set to hit movie theaters on May 5th, 2017.
