Things are still very much unclear on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘s situation, but one of the things fans have been asking for is that James Gunn‘s script is used despite his departure as a director. His brother Sean Gunn, who plays Kraglin in the Guardians films, has stated earlier this year that Marvel had the intention to use it, though nothing else has been said on the issue. They are still actively looking for new directors to take over. Just recently, we found out that Anchorman director Adam McKay has also been approached to direct the sequel.

Over on Twitter, Peter Sciretta from /Film now claims he talked to two different people who somehow read the script and that it made them cry. He is being quite vague on the matter and it seems as if he already said more than he probably was supposed to.

Despite being nice to hear something about Gunn‘s script for the third installment, it is hardly a surprise, given that both Guardians films had emotional, tear-jerking moments. The funeral scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was one of the most emotional moments in any MCU film. It would be expected that what would have ended the trilogy would be just as, if not even more, emotional than its predecessors. Hopefully, we will get some word on what we can expect from Vol. 3 and who would take over the franchise.
