There’s been a lot of talk lately about the renewals of dead Marvel-Netflix shows even though some of them have yet to be officially cancelled. Officially, Jessica Jones and The Punisher have been spared from the axe but that isn’t stopping superstar Jon Bernthal from bidding farewell to his iconic character.

To all who have served. All who know loss. All who love and understand Frank and his pain. It has been an honor to walk in his boots. I’m endlessly grateful to the comic fans and the men and women of the Armed Services and law enforcement community who Frank means so much to. Thank you to the USMC and all the wonderful soldiers who trained me. Go Hard. Be safe.
With this heartfelt goodbye, there’s a strong chance we hear the official announcement within the next few days (or hours even). This goodbye may have been expected since Daredevil was cancelled but it doesn’t make it sting any less. I’ve said it elsewhere but the loss of these actors is easily the biggest and most tragic casualty of these cancellations. Along with the likes of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, Bernthal is an absolute movie star and would have stood tall alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans in the pantheon of film superheroes. Just get the cancellation announcement over with, Netflix.
