A couple months ago, we dropped a scoop revealing that the OG Captain Marvel, [Mar-Vell] would be playing a key role in Carol Danvers’ debut film.

While no name was attached to the original scoop, Variety is now reporting that actor Jude Law is in talks to assume the role.  This would mark the second massive role Law landed in 2017, after having previously been cast as a young Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts follow up.

We finally got more information at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con surrounding the Captain Marvel project.  Marvel Studios maestro Kevin Feige confirmed it’d be set in the 1990s, would star Samuel L. Jackon’s Nick Fury, and feature the debut of the Skrulls within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  Since then, we’ve found out that rising Hollywood start Ben Mendelsohn in the movie’s villain role.

As for Mar-Vell, it’s a relief that we know Marvel will be including him in the movie.  After all, there is no Captain Marvel without Mar-Vell.

Captain Marvel is slated to hit the silver screen on March 8, 2019.
