In an interview with Comicbook.com, Kevin Feige said that the Quantum Realm has future potential in adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, this could mean any numbers of things, such as The Avengers venturing into the Quantum Realm in Avengers 4 or fans speculating that it could be a means of introducing the Fantastic Four down the road.
“At the end of Ant-Man we followed Scott Lang into the Quantum Realm for the first time. We were beginning to peel back the onion that would later be completely peeled back in Doctor Strange as we go into the multiverse. So that was our little test into that.
But now the Quantum Realm is a whole other territory that we can play with to tell our stories. This Quantum Realm is much larger than we ever imagined, and there are all sorts of adventures to be had at that level, which perhaps we will explore in another film.”
Personally speaking, I’ve never been a fan of so many potential plot points and characters being connected to the Quantum Realm. It acting as this universe’s Negative Zone from the comic books makes sense and is good streamlining, but it also being the origin of Carol Danvers’ powers and potentially mutants too? It just seems like too much and I fear will only make the universe feel smaller with so many events and characters connected to it.
Whatever the case, I’m sure I’ll be proven wrong and Kevin Feige will make it all work organically.
