The fiery speculation on the incredibly mysterious Avengers 4 title continues to burn as fan theories surrounding the film’s set photos constantly fuel it. But Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige isn’t having any of it. The visionary behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, in fact, worried that the actual title won’t live up to the massive deal fans are making it out to be. Speaking to IGN, he said:
I’ve said before, it’s gotten entirely out of hand. And now will have no chance of living up to any expectations of what it’s gonna be. And it sort of backfired, if I’m honest with you, because the notion was to not talk about it so the focus was to be on [Infinity War].
From the looks of it, the title for Avengers 4 won’t be as epic and mindblowing as everyone is purporting it out to be so we should probably start ruling out titles like Secret Wars or Secret Invasion. While there is a bit of disappointment knowing that expectations won’t be met with the title (fans can get too demanding at times), there’s something to be appreciated and respected with Feige’s candor. Feige did, however, assure IGN that regardless of its title, Avengers 4 is a film that fans will want to see ASAP after the credits roll for Avengers: Infinity War:
They’re absolutely directly connected, as many of our movies are but more so than many of our other movies. People will want to know what happens next immediately at the end of it.
