One source of frustration for fans of Marvel Television is the lack of acknowledgment and connectivity from the films and the division overseeing them. We’re ten years into the MCU and the likes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Daredevil haven’t received so much as a namedrop from the 20 films that have been released. Well, fans looking forward to Marvel Studios’ latest venture in the Disney+ streaming service won’t have to worry about that. Speaking with Comicbook.com, Kevin Feige affirmed:
These will be Marvel Studios productions. They will be entirely interwoven with both the current MCU, the past MCU, and the future of the MCU.
Not that we needed any more confirmation but it is exciting to know just how essential these shows will be to the growth of the MCU. The idea that these stories will inform incoming films on a substantial scale is unprecedented. Star Wars may be a widely expanded multimedia phenomenon with its countless episodes of TV, novels and comic books but their films have largely ignored these canonical stories (with the exception of the Darth Maul cameo in Solo) much like Marvel Studios with Marvel Television. It’ll be interesting to see how Kevin Feige and his team of showrunners and filmmakers traverse this uncharted territory.
