Marvel Studios is about to release its 15th film worldwide and Kevin Feige has quite a legacy to look back on. Soon, the MCU will reach its 10th anniversary, a landmark that appropriately coincides with Avengers: Infinity War, the culmination of everything we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. In an interview with Fandango, the Marvel Studios President spoke about his excitement about the MCU:

“It’s continuing to evolve [and] continuing to surprise. It’s continuing to bring out films with characters that people have seen before and loved before, or new characters, but taking them to unexpected places, which is what I think the comics have done extremely well over the decades.”

Though the MCU took a grounded and realistic approach in its earlier years, Marvel has increasingly shown that they’re willing to push the envelope when it comes to embracing the stranger side of the Marvel Universe. And, according to Feige, things are just going to get crazier:

“It’s more exciting than people are aware of right now, with what’s happening. We’re doing things you’ve never seen before with films based on comics.”

With filming underway for Infinity War, and its untitled sequel immediately to follow, it seems as though the Avengers aren’t going to get a break any time soon. Although filming began over a month ago, Feige doesn’t expect production to wrap before the end of 2017:

“We’re deep into shooting; we’ve been shooting for 35 days. On most movies you’re almost halfway there after 35 days, but on these movies we’re still just scratching the surface. We’ll be filming through the end of the year,”

With such a massive project underway, it’s even more impressive that the solo movies in the MCU are being produced at a rate never before seen in the MCU, with 3 films planned for release every year between now and 2020. Of course, just because Infinity War is the culmination of the MCU so far doesn’t mean that Feige has plans to stop any time soon:

“As we’re approaching our 10th anniversary, I think we still have a long way to go in terms of places to explore and characters to get to know. To me, that’s the most exciting part of it.”
