Are you tired of hearing about James Gunn and whether or not he’ll be rehired by Disney? Well, you’re out of luck, as Deadline is reporting that Marvel Studios is attempting to find a compromise with Disney regarding James Gunn’s involvement with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 moving forward.

Sources said the Marvel contingent is trying to persuade Disney to explore a compromise that might bring Gunn back into the fold for Guardians 3, something that clearly would be best for the franchise. There is no clash or strong arming here. I’m told it’s a discussion that comes in the wake of the whole cast declaring their loyalty to Gunn, whose abrupt exit has put a thriving film franchise in a rocky place.

Obviously, it was never Marvel Studios’ choice to let James Gunn go for his controversial tweets in the first place, but Walt Disney Studios chairman, Alan Horn, pulled the trigger a bit too quick it seems. With mounting pressure from the cast demanding his return, competing studios willing to hire James Gunn for big tent pole projects, Dave Bautista threatening to quit if James Gunn’s script isn’t used, and now there’s the added time pressure of Chris Pratt’s schedule being in jeopardy, as his recent project, Cowboy Ninja Viking, has been delayed, which all adds up to a very difficult position for Disney and whether or not they’ll change their mind about continuing to conduct business with James Gunn in even a reduced capacity.
