Phase 4 is about to debut in full swing next year and one of the most anticipated movies under that slate is the MCU’s first horror movie in the form of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The movie is proving to be a massive one since we’ve learned in previous months that both of the WandaVision and Loki Disney+ series will tie in to the sequel. And now, it seems that there will be more unexpected characters set to debut. Serving as the guest speaker at the New York Film Academy, Kevin Feige teased the possibility of certain characters popping up and making their much awaited MCU debuts.

Sometimes you’re choosing title hero, choosing which main character or main team you want to bring to the screen and often times, it’s as you’re making and developing the movie [asking] ‘Who will come into it?’ and ‘Who will fit into it? The next Doctor Strange film, for instance, features some new MCU characters which will be making their debut in that movie you won’t expect or won’t guess who it is but we found a cool way to make it work because we want to make a particular type of movie there and there was a character who we always wanted to do something with who will fit really well there.

There is no telling which characters will debut given that Feige and the studio already has a wide selection of characters under their belt after the Fox merger. This movie might be the perfect avenue for several mutants to have a quick cameo and have a bigger role down the line. It could also serve as the introduction of several characters to the ever growing MCU such as Mahershala Ali‘s Blade who is set to have his own solo movie or even kickstart Ryan Reynold‘s Deadpool whose third movie is under development at Marvel Studios. The sequel could also debut Doctor Strange characters that we haven’t seen before. All bets are off and the possibilities are endless. After all, we are dealing with the multiverse.

Who do you think will pop up unexpectedly in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? Find out when it hit theaters on May 7, 2021.
