Fans got a surprise back in 2015 when Andy Serkis showed up in Avengers: Age of Ultron portraying the villainous Ulysses Klaue. At the time, we didn’t know much about Marvel’s plans for the Black Panther in the MCU, so this one came out of left field. Now, though, we’re just a couple of weeks away from the film’s debut, and we’re learning a lot more about the characters and how everything ties into the MCU as a whole.
One thing you’ve probably been wondering since Age of Ultron hit theaters is what happened to Klaue. After losing his arm in his encounter with Ultron, we all expected his next appearance would be with a robotic arm, perhaps even in the film’s after-credits scene. Since that didn’t happen, we were left wondering what Klaue was up to. According to Andy Serkis, Klaue has been mighty busy with making the world a worse place:
**He’s just been, basically, causing mayhem in the world, on minor and major levels. He’s a smart guy in the sense that he’s a businessman as well as an arms dealer. He manages to cover his tracks. He has a mercenary army that works with him in different locations all around the world, and he’s able to go down rabbit holes and appear other places, so he’s got the smarts, but he’s a little whacked out.**
Given the character’s ability to have escaped Wakanda with the vibranium, it should come as no surprise he’s been able to keep himself off the world’s radar. From what we’ve seen in trailers, though, it seems like he wasn’t able to keep that up for too long. We’ll undoubtedly see more of what Klaue’s been up to, and him picking up that robotic arm, in Black Panther when it hits theaters on February 16th, 2018.
