Here’s one piece of news we weren’t expecting. Motion capture artist Terry Notary has confirmed in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter that he would be working alongside Josh Brolin’s Thanos in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War. The role at hand? Unclear but we do know that his character is Thanos’ second-in-command.
I’m working with Josh Brolin and three other actors [in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War], and I’m playing Josh Brolin’s right-hand bad guy in the film. I can’t say the name of the character or I think Marvel will sever my head, but I apply those same principals of what it means to drop bullshit and just play a character truly evil. And it’s working. [Laughs] It’s truly working.
Pretty cool news as it confirms Thanos will have his own band of baddies. There are a whole plethora of comic characters Terry Notary could be playing, a role likely to be a motion capture one. We’re hoping he’s playing one of the members of Thanos’ Black Order, preferably the monstrosity known as the Black Dwarf.
While not as famous as his colleague and fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Andy Serkis, Notary is one of the few leading names in the motion/performance capture industry today. He’s no spring chicken in the industry, having been involved in numerous Hollywood blockbusters as a stunt coordinator/movement coach/mo-cap artist in films like Warcraft, the latest Planet of the Apes trilogy and The Hobbit. His involvement in the forgotten MCU film The Incredible Hulk as Tim Roth‘s stunt double and mo-cap coach technically makes him a returning Marvel alumnus. His most recent project is the now showing Kong: Skull Island, where he stars as the titular King Kong.
