Kevin Feige Teases a Future for Korg and Miek Beyond 'Thor: Ragnarok'

It seems that there is a good chance we might see the characters of Korg and Miek return after appearing in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. Marvel CEO Kevin Feige teased a future for the two Planet Hulk characters and confirmed that they have plans for their return at some point.

We have plans for Korg and Miek. When and where we’ll have to wait and see, but we, like the audience now that they’ve seen them, can’t get enough. We were talking about doing a little spin-off. Like one of these One-Shot short films with Korg and Miek… like [them] just going shopping and things.

It is great how much care Marvel Studios puts into its supporting cast, as we have seen quite a few initially minor characters appear throughout the franchise. Most people think of Agent Coulson, who once felt like the glue that kept the franchise together alongside Nick Fury.

With the ever-expanding franchise and the recent tease of a strong cosmic expansion for the franchise, it makes sense that these two would return at some point. As major elements from the Planet Hulk comic storyline are mixed into Ragnarok, there are a lot of potentials to explore these characters in the MCU. Perhaps they could even join the Guardians of the Galaxy at one point? He does point out however that they will not bring back Korg without director Taika Waititi, as he created and plays this version of the character.

Yes, it all depends on whether they can meet Taika Waititi, the actor, exorbitant fees because Korg is now established in this film and if you want Korg you have to… cash up. The actor version doesn’t work without the director version.

The mention of a potential One-Shot is also adding more fuel to the fire that they may potentially return. They were initially made to give minor characters more screentime in the MCU, something the TV shows do as well. Feige does point out that with them upping their game with three films a year, there is not a lot of room to really work on these smaller projects, but does not deny that they could potentially return. It would be great to see minor characters get more screentime. Maybe Korg and Miek will offer their help in the battle against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and its unnamed sequel?
