As we reported earlier, Avengers: Infinity War is set to begin filming in the beautiful countryside of Scotland beginning in the last week of February. Along in that report came an interesting piece of information saying that Liv Tyler, last seen in the MCU 9 years ago in The Incredible Hulk, has been included in the cast list of the ginormous third Avengers outing as Betty Ross.
The movie’s colossal cast also includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Josh Brolin, and Liv Tyler and Scotland’s Karen Gillan have reportedly been lined up for parts. It’s set for release in May 2018.
We do not have knowledge on whether this casting rumor is correct or merely a wild guess/typo so take it with a huge grain of salt. Nevertheless, it makes sense for the estranged Betty Ross make a return in the MCU given that Liv Tyler’s on-screen father Thunderbolt Ross has now returned in a larger MCU-wide spanning role starting with Captain America: Civil War and presumably continuing in 2018’s Black Panther.
Should Liv Tyler actually return, Avengers: Infinity War could very well serve as a reunion of sorts for select characters that have disappeared into the cracks of oblivion such as Pepper Potts. Maybe we’ll finally see the return of other Incredible Hulk alumni such as Leonard Samson, Samuel Sterns and the Abomination in Infinity War. Plus it’d be interesting to see Banner reunite with his true love after experiencing life on an alien gladiator planet.
On a side note, the report also indicates that Robert Downey Jr. would earn an estimated whopping £58 million (amounting to $61 million) plus bonuses, topping his reported $50 million earnings from the first Avengers movie. With that kind of money, Robert Downey Jr. could start paying all previous cast members to return for the MCU. Maybe we could finally get that Darcy trilogy everyone’s been dying to see.
