One of the best things about having so many Marvel Studios projects coming down the pipeline again is getting to celebrate new casting announcements on such a regular basis, and today brings us yet another one of those announcements! Marvel is currently hard at work on multiple new Disney+ shows, one of the most highly anticipated being Loki, with a cast as star-studded as any Marvel project in recent memory. That star power is expanding even more, with a new report from Deadline that Black Mirror star Gugu Mbatha-Raw  has joined the show!

Marvel is keeping her role under wraps for the moment, as usual, although the rumor is that she will have a very prominent part in the series. With the introduction of the Time Variance Authority and Angels of Heven, Mbatha-Raw could be in either of those groups. She was at one point considered for the role of Monica Rambeau in Captain Marvel so it’s nice to finally see her join the family.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw joins a mind-bogglingly outstanding cast for her first Marvel appearance in a show that already boasts the services of Sophia Di Martino and Owen Wilson. Tom Hiddleston will return as the enigmatic God of Mischief, and the Loki series is currently filming in preparation for a release date in the spring of 2021!
