As Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada reminded us last week, there are still two more Defenders set to lead their own shows before we see them all join up for The Defenders mini-series. And while Daredevil season two will debut this week, we are also looking to the future for Luke Cage, which was recently revealed to be hitting the streaming service on September 30th. Before the series even went into production last year – as it filmed alongside Daredevil season two – it was rumored that production would end on March 11th, 2016. And it appears as though those rumors were true.
We are now just a little bit closer to seeing what Luke Cage’s world will be like, as the cast just threw a wrap party for the first season. Simone Missick, who will be portraying Misty Knight in the series, posted photos of some of the fabulous women on the show at the New York City wrap party.
Pictured with Simone are Alfre Woodard, Karen Pittman, Parisa Fitz-Henley, and Camara Aunique. Woodard is portraying Mariah Dillard, a Harlem politician in the show. Parisa originally portrayed Luke’s deceased wife in Jessica Jones. It is assumed that she will be appearing in Luke Cage with the use of flash-backs, as well. Whereas Karen’s role in the series hasn’t been announced, though she appears to have filmed with Simone, so her character will have some sort of interaction with Misty Knight.
Along with Simone, another supporting cast member posted a few photos from the wrap party, making sure to include the man himself, Mike Colter, and Theo Rossi, who will be playing Shades.
It is worth noting that, according to OLV, there is still some filming taking place for the series, although it’s possible they are just pick-up scenes. Given the wrap party, it’s more than likely that there are only a few more shots left to finish up before they completely wrap production on season one. For now, though, it’s time to get excited as we’re getting closer to seeing Luke Cage when the series debuts on September 30th.
