Fans of the Heroes for Hire got some great news at the beginning of the month, when it was confirmed that Finn Jones would reprise his role as Danny Rand in the second season of Luke Cage. Many were curious how the character would be integrated into the storyline and what that means for the direction of the show. Luckily, Blackfilm.com got a chance to sit down with Mike Colter to discuss his latest starring role in Girls Trip and his upcoming second season. When asked about Rand’s involvement and what he has to offer to the season.

There are people that love the idea of Heroes for Hire. When people saw The Defenders, they thought the relationship was good between Finn and I and they are curious. They want to see more of that. He will bring some fresh blood in the new season and I’m hoping that people will respond to it well. We are teamed up for a bit. That’s the whole point of bringing that flavor to it. I can see how this works. That’s what good about it. We’re giving people what they want. A lot of times people wanted to see Jessica Jones and Luke and what happens to them; but we went out on a limb, and decided to “let’s give a little heroes for hire somewhere in the season and see what happens.” Hopefully people will respond to it.

We got a first look at these two characters interacting in The Defenders and it was a promising tease. It is rather surprising how early we are getting this crossover between the two. Iron Fist would certainly shake things up for Cage. Maybe they will turn Pop’s barbershop into their Heroes for Hire office, as it was teased quite a bit in Luke Cages first season. Hopefully, this is also a sign that the upcoming seasons will have more crossovers between the various characters, especially with them all living in New York City. The actor was asked if Cage would be making any other appearances, but he only answered with:

“I can not say.”

Colter was also asked when we can expect the season to be released on Netflix. He revealed that they are still filming and highlighted Netflix’s habit of pushing out shows whenever their schedule allows it. The actor does tease that we may see the show release in the first quarter of 2018, which would make sense with potentially three shows airing next season.

Are you looking forward to the crossover? When do you think the second season will air?
