It’s something we’ve all been wondering for a few months now – when the first season of Luke Cage would debut on Netflix. A summer release seemed like a given, if Netflix and Marvel were to continue with their current release schedule of three months after the end of production. (Note: Luke Cage is close to wrapping production on season one.) This is something we’ve seen with both Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Well, it appears as though Netflix and Marvel have decided to change things up a bit, as during the season two premiere of Daredevil last night, Luke Cage himself Mike Colter announced the release date for his series – September 30th.

As exciting as it is to have some official news regarding Luke Cage, there’s something else to take away from this announcement. While we’ve all been speculating that Iron Fist – followed by The Defenders – wouldn’t hit until 2017, this pretty much confirms it.
The second season of Daredevil is set to debut next Friday. As for Luke Cage, you can catch Colter in the role on the first season of Jessica Jones, which is currently available to stream on Netflix.
