Filming is well underway for the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Homecoming, and while we’ve gotten a good look at most of the supporting cast at this point, there have been a few cast members we haven’t seen on set such as Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) and Michael Keaton (Vulture). However, one of the most noticeably absent figures has been that of Marisa Tomei‘s Aunt May – until today, that is. Tomei, who made her debut as the character in this year’s Captain America: Civil War, was spotted on set recently alongside Spidey himself, Tom Holland. You can view the photos from Just Jared in the gallery below.
From the looks of it, Tomei may just have been arriving on set for the first time, greeted with a big hug from Holland. Most folks will know that May provides the one anchoring relationship for Peter and is truly the key figure in his life. Despite all of his love interests and friends over the years, May has been the one constant. With her being so important, it’s nice to see what appears to be some genuine happiness on both their faces as they greet one another.
Tomei’s introduction in Civil War was a new take on the character, one of what appears to be many to some of the central Spidey characters. However, with an actress of Tomei’s caliber in the role, the move to a younger, “hotter” Aunty May is one that fans can come to embrace.
Filming on Spider-Man: Homecoming should wrap sometime next month, giving Holland a brief respite from portraying the wallcrawler ahead of Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel, scheduled to begin shooting this winter.
