Even considering the plethora of announcements Marvel fans have gotten since SDCC regarding new movies and Disney+ shows (along with the always exciting cast reveals that have followed), the word has been particularly mum concerning a certain sequel to the MCU’s first-academy award-winning movie: Black Panther. While we don’t know much yet, Martin Freeman did confirm with Collider.com while discussing his new film Ode to Joy that he will be returning as CIA Agent Everett Ross!
As far as I know, I will be [returning]. As far as I know, I will be in another Black Panther. That’s my understanding. As to when that will happen, I don’t know.
Martin Freeman established himself as a film/television treasure long before his Marvel debut, and fans only want more of him after Agent Ross’s introduction in Captain America: Civil War and his latest adventure with the Wakandan King in 2018. There’s also hope among some of us at MCUExchange for Freeman to show up in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ giving some more of the business to Helmut Zemo, fingers crossed!
Our last glimpse at Ross showed him joining T’Challa and the royal family in the Wakandan civil war, and with no update on his status during the Avengers’ latest rumbles with Thanos, we’re all anxious to find out what he has been up to, along with any confirmed news on Black Panther 2 that we can get!
