Now that Spider-Man is officially in the MCU, Marvel and Sony have actively been looking for a young actor to take on the role of Peter Parker. Asa Butterfield may be considered the front-runner for the role but others are still in consideration as an announcement could be made in the next few weeks.

Marvel and Sony have now started looking for someone to direct the first installment in the Spider-Man franchise and Deadline has revealed a list of five directors up for the job.

According to their sources, Marvel and Sony are looking at Jonathan Levine, Ted Melfi, Jason Moore, the duo of John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein, as well as Jared Hess.

In early March, Latino-Review reported that Drew Goddard was in talks to write and direct the film but Goddard is not on the list Deadline is reporting.

Jonathan Levine is best known for directing Warm Bodies and 50/50.

Ted Melfi wrote and directed St. Vincent and received a Golden Globe nomination off of.

Jason Moore directed the singing sensation Pitch Perfect while John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein having been working on Vacation recently.

Jared Hess is the director of goofy comedies like Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre.

This is a very interesting list of directors and there are sure to be more names that pop up as more trades start investigating.

Spider-Man is scheduled to hit theaters July 28, 2017.
