Unfortunately we have some more sad news for Marvel Television. According to Variety, Marvel Studios is pursing full control over all future television productions related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many expected this after several shows produced by Marvel Studios were announced for Disney’s streaming service. Not to mention the cancellation of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, and Agents of SHIELD. Then there’s New Warriors and Ghost Rider being unable to secure a network.

It’s entirely possible that Marvel Studios is pushing Marvel Television out so that production of these shows is strictly under one roof. Especially since Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter still oversees Marvel Television since it was not part of the resurrecting of Marvel Studios under Disney. Not to mention that they’ll now have the added benefit of being directly connected to the movies.

According to multiple industry sources who spoke with Variety, the perception throughout the entertainment business is that live-action productions will be mostly if not completely moved away from Marvel Television…

The only live-action show in development by Marvel Television is Helstrom. Along with Runaways receiving a third season and Cloak & Dagger still up in the air. However, the future of Marvel Television seems to lie in animation. After all, they still have their The Offenders line up of adult cartoons on the way for Hulu. Not to mention that their subsidiary, Marvel Animation is responsible for every modern animated Marvel show.
