Thor: Ragnarok is set to go before cameras this summer and some big names have been connected with the film for some time without confirmation from Marvel Studios. That changed today as Marvel officially revealed the key cast members for the capstone of the Thor trilogy. The release, which confirmed long rumored roles for Cate Blanchett (Hela) and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), also broke the news that Jeff Goldblum, who had recently been teasing his inclusion in a comic book movie, and Karl Urban have joined the cast as The Grandmaster and Skurge, the Executionor, respectively. The release also verified that Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins are all set to reprise their respective roles, rounding out what has to be one of the most impressive casts put together by Marvel.

One name that’s missing, however, is that of Jaimie Alexander who has played Lady Sif in the films. Borys from THR is hearing that the actress will not be returning for Ragnarok as her shooting schedule for her television series Blindspot clashes with the schedule for Ragnarok.

However, going off this tweet, I’d say not to rule her out just yet.

Regarding this all star cast, Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige said, “The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet.“He continued, “The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible.”

Though the release did not give a synopsis, it does mention that Hela will act as the film’s villain and includes a nice piece of concept art showing her facing off against the armies of Asgard! We’ve collected quite a few rumors about potential cast members and plot points over the past year (which you can check out here) and have more to come. This film is shaping up to be an impressive finale to the Thor trilogy.

Thor: Ragnarok films this summer in Queensland, Australia and opens in theaters November 3rd, 2017.
