In a move that looks like it came straight from our fan-cast (and many others), The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Game of Thrones alum Iwan Rheon will portray Maximus in the upcoming ABC/IMAX series The Inhumans. Rheon, known best for playing Ramsay Snow/Bolton on Game of Thrones is sure to bring his calculating, cruel charisma to the role of Maximus, who is described by The Hollywood Reporter as follows:

Maximus is a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King — though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.

Playing a power-hungry royal is nothing new for Rheon, and this casting is sure to delight fans who have been calling for this exact casting since before the project was announced. President of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb spoke about Rheon’s casting, explaining that the skills Rheon demonstrated while playing Ramsay will come into play again in the upcoming series:

“Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Inhumans showrunner Scott Buck also praised Rheon and gave us some hints as to what we should expect to see from Maximus:

“Maximus is a complex character. Likable, charming, tragic and villainous all in the same moment, and I’m very excited to have someone of Iwan’s considerable talent.”

We expect the full cast list for Inhumans to follow very soon, and it may include names like Elysia Rotaru, Eliana Jones, and Owen Harn, who have all alluded to their Inhumans involvement on social media. For more updates, make sure to keep checking back here throughout the day.

The first two episodes of Marvel’s The Inhumans will hit IMAX screens this Labor Day weekend for a special two-week limited engagement before the series premieres on ABC at the end of September.
