In just 10 days, season 2 of Daredevil will drop on Netflix and be the cause of losing sleep, pushing responsibilities, and sitting on a couch for 13 hours for many fans. Earlier this morning, Marvel released a new image showcasing the new outfits of Daredevil, Punisher, and Elektra as they continue to market the series.
While the rest of us wait to watch the season, Marvel and Netflix have been showing episodes at press events and screeners. At the Paris debut, Charlie Cox was joined by Elodie Yung and Jon Bernthal for a interview about season. The majority of the conversation was about researching roles and chemistry tests, but Cox did give a nice tease about what is in store for Matt this season.
Cox: Without giving away any specific details, I think that the way I like to think about this season if the first season was the birth of a hero, the evolution of Matt Murdock into Daredevil. This year, the season poses the question, “What makes a hero?” “What is it we deem a hero?” It’s kind of heroic acts and in this case vigilante justice, is it actually detrimental to a society.
In terms of Matt, this year, since the end of season 1 Wilson Fisk is behind bars and the crime rate has plummeted. He’s feeling pretty good about himself. He’s reconciled with his demons about the Catholic guilt that he has about being Daredevil. He’s really enjoying his work, he does it with a smile on his face. I think there is an arrogance and a swagger to him now and then of course these two guys [points to Yung and Bernthal] show up and things get bad.
I am very interested to see what an arrogant Daredevil is like and what happens to him when he is humbled by Punisher and others.
Season 2 of Daredevil debuts exclusively on Netflix on March 18th at 12:01 PST.
