Marvel Studios has become one of the highest grossing franchises of all time and they do not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. It is hard to deny that the once small production company has become a juggernaut in the industry with most of their films making a considerable income. Three of their franchises have now finished out their trilogies and Avengers: Infinity War will mark the MCU’s ten-year anniversary.  The release of Thor: Ragnarok has also smashed Box Office predictions and that pushed the franchise beyond one more major milestone.

With the release of their 17th feature film, the franchise has now officially passed the $5 billion mark domestically. In total, the franchise has already made $13 billion in the international Box Office, which ensures that it will be the most successful franchise for some time.

It is astounding to think that all this started with Iron Man back in 2008. The franchise has come a long way with the build-up towards the first Avengers film. Seeing all these heroes finally together on the silver screen was quite an event, but even then who would’ve thought we get a Ragnarok film with elements from Planet Hulk. We witness Captain America and Iron Man duke it out in Captain America: Civil War. Even some very unknown characters like Ant-Man or Doctor Strange were able to start their own franchises. There is still so much more waiting for us in the future beyond Phase 3 and it will be quite a journey to see how far this franchise can grow.

Did you ever believe this franchise would grow this large? When do you think they will pass the next milestone?
