Awards season is upon us and with that comes a litany of nomination lists. Today’s comes from the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and seeks to recognize high achievements in both television and and film. Nominations come from two committees formed within the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, one committee considers the film awards, the other committee considers the television performances that deserve recognition.
In a growing recognition of the high quality entertainment coming out of Marvel Studios, the MCU is represented in both the film and the television categories with two nomination in each.
First up, both Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange were nominated for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture, a category Marvel looks to have locked with Civil War unless Hacksaw Ridge swoops in and steals it.
Next, Daredevil, which was nominated the previous year, has had its second season nominated for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series along with fellow Netflix show, Luke Cage. This category looks to be a much tougher win for Marvel with the likes of Westworld and Game of Thrones in the mix.
The SAG Awards will be presented on Jan. 29 on TNT and TBS beginning at 8:00pm Eastern.
