Welcome to the MCU Weekly Pulse, a rundown of all the stories throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we didn’t cover in News or Features this past week.
John Krasinski Wants To Play A Marvel Villain
At one point in time, John Krasinski, perhaps best known for playing Jim on The Office, was up for the role of Captain America. Of course, the role ultimately went to Chris Evans, and Krasinski missed out on the highly sought-after role. Still, that hasn’t stopped fans from fan-casting the actor – along with his wife, Emily Blunt, who was originally cast as Black Widow – in most upcoming MCU roles. While it doesn’t appear to be happening, at least not anytime soon, Krasinski is still interested in the possibility – although he’d want to play a villain.
Asked if now he has an action movie on his CV, he’d like to take another run at a Marvel role, Krasinski told Digital Spy: “I’ll take a Marvel movie, any time! I love watching them so I’d love to be a part of it.”

Thor: Ragnarok Director Talks Making The Sequel Funny
For those who loved the more comedic tone of the first Thor versus the dour proceedings of the sequel Thor: The Dark World, you’re in luck when it comes to the third part of the trilogy. Director Taika Waititi made a name for himself with comedy and it seems he’ll be bringing that approach to Thor: Ragnarok. While promoting his new film Hunt For The Wilderpeople, The Hollywood Reporter asked if his indie film-making skills would be applied to the Marvel blockbuster.
“Just shake the camera a lot. … And carrot sticks instead of real food.”
And when The Wrap asked how he’d make the film funnier, he replied:
“I’ll take the second film and just add some jokes to that.”
We’ll have to wait and see how Waititi’s sensibilities manifest on screen when Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3rd, 2017.

While some believe the “November” next to Luke Cage’s name is a reveal of when his show will drop on Netflix, we think it’s safe to say that it’s merely referencing when the case was and that Luke Cage is still likely to premier this summer.
Season 1 of Jessica Jones is now streaming on Netflix.
