Welcome to the MCU Weekly Pulse, a rundown of all the stories throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we didn’t cover in News or Features this past week. It’s been one of the busiest weeks in the MCU this week, so let’s jump right in.

The MCU Welcomes Brie Larson

Captain Marvel

The very last announcement for Marvel at SDCC was that Brie Larson will be Captain Marvel.

Not only did fans welcome Larson into the MCU, the actress joined the rest of the “Marvel Family” on stage at the end of Saturday night, and through the evening, many other stars from the MCU took the chance to stand with her.

Larson may be the first female lead for an MCU feature film, but Lupita Nyong’o shared a picture proving that she isn’t alone as a woman in the MCU.

Benedict Cumberbatch, one of the newest members of the MCU family, also shared the excitemnt of welcoming Larson to the team.

Ok one more because I also met DOCTOR STRANGE and he grabbed my hands and I laughed in disbelief. #SDCC

MCU Acters Show Off The Toy Versions Of Themselves

Jon Bernthal started it off by showing the world Hasbro’s 6-Inch Punisher, and then the Minimates Punisher toy.

While Krystin Ritter wasn’t at SDCC, a replica of herself was.

But the Netflix stars weren’t the only ones with toys in their likeness. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Chloe Bennet (Daisy Jonson) and Doctor Strange‘s Benedict Cumberbatch were also on hand with smaller versions of themselves in tow.

Chadwick Boseman Takes On SDCC And Black Panther BTS Footage From Civil War Hits

BlackPanther_CivilWar (1)

We have our first look at the special features that will be included in the Captain America: Civil War DVD, and it gives us a nice behind-the-scenes look at the Black Panther.

According to Newsarama, this is just a small part of the behind-the-scenes action that will be included on the DVD.

This is a clip from a 60-minute behind-the-scenes featurette titled “United We Stand, Divided We Fall – The Making of Captain America: Civil War Part 1 & 2”.

We will get to see the full story, and much more, when the Captain America: Civil War DVD is released September 13. Meanwhile, The Black Panther himself, Chadwick Boseman, was at San Diego Comic-Con, hanging out with the best of the best.

If there are posters out there with both his and Stan Lee’s signatures, that would be a great find for collectors. But with Captain America: Civil War in the past, Boseman was asked what Marvel film he is most looking forward to. His answer is pretty surprising.

From the enthusiasm that Boseman is showing as he endorses the upcoming Doctor Strange movie, he either hasn’t seen the new trailer that was released on Saturday, or he is being held at gunpoint. But in this selfie from Comic-Con, he appears to be in the clear.

Want to send a shout out to all the #BlackPanther fans at our #SDCC2016 signing. Thanks for sharing this journey with me!

The gag reel for the upcoming Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. DVD release debuted at their SDCC panel, and was released online shortly after. You can view it below. (It’s pretty great.)

Chloe Bennett took a moment to show off Quake’s powers, while on stage at one of the events.

With Ghost Rider joining the cast, we got to see his car on display at SDCC, but Clark Gregg gave us a closer look at the details when they returned back to set… and yeah, the car is looking pretty spiffy.

Doctor Strange Meets Loki

Official Doctor Strange Logo

The big problem that will be facing Strange later this year is the mysterious Kaecilius, played by Mads Mikkelsen. While we do not know much about Kaecilius and what he will be doing, we now know that he will have Scott Adkins on his side, playing a yet unannounced character.

The cast of Doctor Strange had a photobomb from another Marvel favorite when Tom Hiddleston jumped into one of their photoshoots at SDCC.

Could we end up seeing Hiddleston, as Loki, with Strange? Cumberbatch discusses this, as well as the draw of Doctor Strange (despite his arrogance) in this video.

Half-Nut joined the other Ravagers to take over Hall H before the Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 2 portion of the Marvel Studios panel.

IGN caught up with Chris Pratt to talk about the A-List celebrities that will be joining him on the new film. As we all know thanks to Marvel’s SDCC panel, Kurt Russell was revealed to be his father, Ego The Living Planet, while Sylvester Stallone‘s role has yet to be revealed. Still, Pratt couldn’t help but to gush about both actors joining him in this film.

Behind The Scenes Of Iron Fist

Iron Fist Logo

Finn Jones introduced fans at SDCC to the first look at Iron Fist via a video from the set in New York. Unfortunately, that video wasn’t made public, but the first teaser was. Following the teaser trailer release, Alex Huynh, a stunt actor in the series, posted the following photo to Instagram.

If there was much to see, the crew wouldn’t be allowed to post the pictures publicly, but here’s a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes action of Iron Fist, apparently filming in an alley.

And if that wasn’t enough Iron Fist goodness for you, a fan snapped this photo of Jones on set yesterday.

Spider-Man: Holland Signs Photos For Fans, Buress Teases His Role

Before heading to the west coast to meet up with the rest of the Marvel family, Tom Holland took a moment on his lunch break to respond to fan mail, while in the Spidey costume.

Hannibal Buress can’t reveal who he is playing in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but he can share with us who he is not playing in the upcoming MCU Feature.

“All I can tell you is that I’m not Spider-Man,” the comedian said of his Homecoming role during a recent Broward Palm Beach interview. “My character does not know that he’s Spider-Man, so I don’t get to see any crazy fight scenes.”

The Spider-Man: Homecoming cast made their way to San Diego, where they were able to see clips from the movie, which was only ten days into filming, along with all of the other fans in Hall H. The cast, as usual, was full of excitement.

The cast got to hang out with the man that started everything, Stan Lee. Lee has said that Spider-Man is his favorite character, so I’m sure he is just as excited to be with these young stars as they are to be with him.

The event left Tom Holland emotional, even when he was flying to San Diego.

While the cast is away, the stunt men will play. Chris Brewster, who has performed stunts as Captain America and who has been Charlie Cox’s stunt double for Daredevil, posed a video with fellow stunt double Holland Diaz. The two men have been in Atlanta, presumably to work on Spider-Man: Homecoming. If Spider-Man and Daredevil ever were to meet, we have to hope that it would be this much fun.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man has been added to a Disney Showcase Mural, further welcoming him to the MCU.

Tessa Thompson Posts A BTS Photo From Thor: Ragnarok

Actress Tessa Thompson, who was cast in the role of Valkyrie, only began filming fifteen days ago, but judging by her latest Instagram post? It appears she has found herself at home with not only the cast and crew, but also Valkyrie’s sword.

If you’re not already, make sure to follow Thompson on Instagram and Twitter as the actress frequently posts some excellent pieces of fan art – and when possible, behind the scenes images from the Ragnarok set.

An while you’re at it, make sure to follow director Taika Waititi as his posts are always delightful. Including this one that teases the Thor mockumentary he made to explain Thor not being in Civil War.
