We have great news for those of you who love a healthy dose of humor with your thunder. We learned a few weeks ago that Matt Damon flew to Australia to participate in the film in some regard, which some people thought was for a possible new role. But new set photos confirm that everyone guessed and that Damon is playing the same Asgardian theater actor he portrayed in ***Thor: Ragnarok. In the same spirit and as an extension of one of the most enjoyable moments of the MCU, everyone’s favorite hilariously melodramatic and loose interpretation of major Asgardian lore is returning for director Taika Watiti‘s Thor: Love and Thunder

It appears that Waititi is not merely bringing back Matt Damon‘s faux Loki, Sam Neil‘s faux Odin, and Luke Hemsworth‘s faux Thor for the fan-favorite premise. The UK Daily Mail has just published pictures of Melissa McCarthy in full Hela regalia (say that 10 times fast), along with the Oscar nominated performer’s hubby Ben Falcone, whilst apparently filming what appears to be yet another staged retelling of Asgardian lore alongside the aforementioned “players” from Thor: Ragnarok.

Thor: Love and Thunder, starring Chris Hemsworth as the titular hero and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, is currently filming in Australia with an expected release date of February 11, 2022.
