In an interesting turn of events, Deadline has just revealed that actor Michael Chernus has joined the ever-growing cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming as the Tinkerer. If you’ll recall, when it was revealed that actor Logan Marshall-Green would be joining the cast, it seemed as though Marshall-Green would take on the role of the Tinkerer. Of course, with Deadline having confirmed Chernus for that role, it’s safe to say Marshall-Green’s role is back to being unknown.

Michael Chernus has joined Sony Pictures and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as one of the villains in the reboot of the franchise. Chernus will play Phineas Mason the Tinkerer in the film, which is being directed by Jon Watts and stars Tom Holland in the lead role. Chernus, whose credits include Captain Phillips, Aloha, The Bourne Legacy and Orange Is the New Black, will play opposite villain Michael Keaton.

Chernus, who is most famous for his work on Orange Is the New Black, is also set to appear in The Dinner and The Most Hated Woman in America. Chernus joins star Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man), Michael Keaton (Adrian Toomes/Vulture), Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson), and Marisa Tomei (Aunt May) in the film, which will be directed by Jon Watts.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit the big screen on July 7th, 2017.
