Venom is back in the news, as it seems they are slowly closing in on who will star opposite of Tom Hardy. Not much is known about what story we can expect from Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off, but there were talks about Riz Ahmed, known for his role in Star Wars: Rogue One, potentially joining the film. That was the last casting rumor we have heard for the film that is set to release in October of next year.

The silence is finally over, as actress Michelle Williams is reportedly in talks to join the film. Sony executives and director Ruben Fleischer have been looking for the female lead of the film for a month now, as they plan for production to start next month. Williams upcoming film, All the Money in the World, is already generating some Oscar buzz.

That Hashtag Show heard from a source back in July that She-Venom, Ann Weying, might be part of the film. She is the ex-wife of Eddie Brock in the comics and could offer an interesting dynamic to the story. Hardy will be playing an older Brock and it would not be too surprising for him to have been married at some point. Variety reports that Williams would be playing a district attorney, which fits the character of Weying who was an attorney in the comics.
