Ms. Marvel is one of those characters that Kevin Feige has had his eye on since the character’s inception 6 years ago. Last May, Feige openly confirmed Marvel Studios’ plans for Kamala Khan once the Captain Marvel film fell into place. Now that the world has seen the massive success that was Carol Danvers’ debut, it’s safe to assume that wheels to bring Kamala Khan to life are now in motion. Speaking with MTV News, The Office star and writer/producer Mindy Kaling revealed her immense interest in bringing the character to the live-action world, confirming meetings with Marvel Studios.

The people I’ve spoken to Marvel about it are so excited about the character and I think that they’re trying to figure out what to do with it. I told them I would help in any way because I truly love her. But they seemed really interested and I think they will probably do something. Now that there’s this streaming platform with them, it might be something like that but I think they understand how much there is excitement. You know, Riz [Ahmed], every different Desi actor was very excited.

When asked about who could play her, Kaling had this to say:

You know, I feel it might need to be an unknown. Wouldn’t that be exciting??

Whether she makes her debut on Disney’s streaming platform or on the big screen next to the new generation of Avengers, Kamala Khan will undoubtedly be one of the most important characters to appear in the MCU. Personally, I’d love for her to debut in a Disney+ show and later appear as a major player in the films.
