It has been quite a week for Marvel fans. We finally got a glimpse at the ever-expanding cast of the MCU in a photoshoot from Vanity Fair followed by a teaser for the trailer alongside the traditional teaser poster. Moreover, news leaked that a deal could actually happen between Marvel and 20th Century Fox. Finally, after a long wait, we got our first official trailer for the upcoming film, which our very own Charles Murphy broke down here. The week is not over yet, as we now also got a brand new synopsis teasing the events of the film.

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

Anthony and Joe Russo direct the film, which is produced by Kevin Feige. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee are the executive producers. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay. “Avengers: Infinity War” releases in U.S. theaters on May 4, 2018.

The synopsis pretty much gives a rundown of what the main plot of the film is. What is interesting is that it describes Thanos as “ending the universe”, which is an interesting contradiction to his statement in the trailer. He believes he is “balancing” the cosmos but destroying most of it would not really balance things out. Perhaps we can expect an appearance by Death after all in the film?

It is also interesting that it states that the Avengers and their Super Hero allies will gather to fight the mad titan. We know that the Guardians of the Galaxy will make an appearance, but this may also refer to Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther. These characters have been members in the comics but have yet to join them in the MCU. It will be interesting to see if they will officially join by the end of Infinity War.

What are your thoughts? What surprises do you think the film has in store for us?
