Spoiler Warning: If you’re trying to avoid spoilers for the second half of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s third season, I’d suggest you stop reading here. There will be spoilers below.

A couple of weeks ago, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Elizabeth Henstridge accidentally let it slip that Brett Dalton, whose character Grant Ward was met with death during the mid-season finale, would be playing Hive when the show returned for season 3B. This news, of course, wasn’t entirely surprising as many fans had begun to speculate as much after we saw something overtake his body back on the mysterious planet. Still, it was nice to have some sort of confirmation.

And now thanks to the folks at Nerdist, we have official confirmation of this change, as showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen have confirmed the reports that Dalton would be playing Hive on the show. Even better? Along with a new image of him as Hive (shown below), they also offered a small tease of what we can expect from this version of Hive.

This version of Hive “is going to have its own unique twist and be very different from what fans have seen so far. We will see similarities that pay homage to the original character, but fans will see that Hive is taking an exciting new direction in the world of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.IE.L.D.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on March 8th on ABC. Be sure to tune in! And as always, for all things Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., be sure to follow along here.
