Last week some rumors surfaced that Samuel L. Jackson would be reprising the role of Nick Fury in 2019’s Captain Marvel film. While it’s not clear just how big that role will be, Deadline is now confirming that Fury, who has been absent from the MCU since the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, will make “an appearance” in the film.
Though we haven’t seen Fury in a while, it’s safe to assume he’s kept tabs on the shenanigans that have taken place since and even though he’s now confirmed for Captain Marvel, we will next see him in Avengers: Infinity War. That could make his role in Captain Marvel a minor spoiler, but we aren’t expecting the super spy to die anytime soon anyway.
Fury’s role in the film opens some doors for speculation about the film’s central plot, but we’ll save that for another time…
Captain Marvel hits theaters March 8, 2019.
