One of the most interesting tidbits to escape Las Vegas from this week’s CinemaCon is that higly-regarded writer Aaron Sorkin will be meeting with Marvel (and DC) this week. Sorkin, best known for the witty dialogue seen in films like The Social Network and TV shows like The West Wing, admits that while he’s not familiar with comic books, he’s heading into his meetings with an open mind:

I have to go into these meetings and tell them as respectfully as I can that I’ve never read a comic book. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that I’ve never been exposed to one. So, I’m hoping that somewhere in their library is a comic book character that I’m gonna love and I’m going to want to go back and start reading from the first issue on.

Obviously we’re team Marvel here, though we have no idea what properties Marvel might be pitching to Sorkin. It’s certainly not too soon for Marvel Studios to begin lining up projects for Phase 4 and Sorkin, whose screenplays have garnered Academy and Golden Globe awards would make an excellent choice. Alternately, Sorkin could join award-winning writer John Ridley in developing properties for Marvel Television. Regardless of which division, landing Sorkin would be a victory for Marvel.

What properties do you think best fit Sorkin’s renowned “walk and talk” style? Where do you think he’d help out Marvel the most?
