Earlier this month, Marvel announced that their latest film, Ant-Man, will be getting a sequel in Phase 3 with Ant-Man and the Wasp. The announcement came with confirmation that Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly would reprise their roles as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Hope Van Dyne/Wasp, respectively.

Now, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, it appears that someone else will be returning for the sequel. According to their sources, director Peyton Reed is currently in negotiations with Marvel to return.

This move comes as no surprise as Reed did a great job with the first installment. Coming in to replace Edgar Wright seemed like a no win situation for Reed being that if the movie was great, people would think it was because of what Wright founded, but if it was bad, then it would be because of Marvel disrupting the process. However, Reed put his own spin on the movie, and will hopefully do the same with the upcoming sequel.

There are no writers currently attached to Ant-Man and the Wasp, but I would imagine Adam McKay would get a call to continue building his relationship with Marvel before tackling his own franchise down the road.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is scheduled to hit theaters July 6, 2018.
