MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ANT-MAN & THE WASP BELOW! IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT, DON’T SCROLL DOWN!
Ant-Man & the Wasp may not have the same world-ending, jaw-dropping ramifications as Avengers: Infinity War but the film manages to conclude several of the main cast’s arcs in potentially exciting ways. Case in point: Ghost, who survives the film somewhat redeemed. If you’re a comic reader and have come across the character of Ghost, you know that the character has been a part of the infamous villain team known as the Thunderbolts. Peyton Reed was asked by CBR about where her fate could lead her down the line to which he had interesting things to say:
She could go kind of in any direction at this point. It’ll be interesting to see is she, you know, will she become a villain or is she an ally? Is this cure permanent or not? I like that open endedness and we definitely have ideas of what we want to do.
It’s established all throughout the film that Ghost needs quantum energy to survive. And in spite of Janet van Dyne seemingly curing her with her newfound quantum energy powers, the post-credits clearly has Ant-Man jumping into the Quantum Realm for the purpose of acquiring energy to give Ghost. With that in mind, we could totally see a scenario where a now-reformed Ghost is forced to return to her nefarious ways in exchange for quantum energy. We’ve always wanted to see a version of the Thunderbolts show up one day and we think this is the way to do it organically.
