The Disney-Fox merger has been dominating the news. We are only a few months away from the deal being finalized and various 20th Century Fox-owned characters making a return. Finally, Kevin Feige will be able to plan films including the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Deadpool and many more. Fans are still trying to recover from Sony making a deal to include Spider-Man in the ever-growing franchise but it seems that nothing can stop this goliath of a production company. Now, Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed has thrown his hat into the ring on the future of the Fantastic Four franchise. He doesn’t only have one idea but six possible ways to introduce the first family.
“Well, listen: as a fan, I certainly find that intriguing, because in the comics realm, the Fantastic Four are the crown jewels of the Marvel Universe. They are the first family of Marvel. I think there is a version of Fantastic Four that has yet to be rendered in the movies that would really, really excite me, and I certainly think there are at least six different ways to introduce Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a really satisfying way.”
This is not surprising as he has once tried to pitch a film on Marvel’s first family a while back before he ended up taking over Ant-Man. He does point out that he is more focused on continuing his current franchise. Still, there have been many hints that the directors do work out projects together, such as James Gunn helping out with the characters of the Guardians in Avengers: Infinity War. There is always the chance that he could pitch the concept and he could still write a draft for the film while still working on a, hopefully, upcoming third entry in the Ant-Man franchise. We are only a few months away before the merger is completed so maybe we get some official word by Marvel Studios on the future beyond Avengers 4.
What are your thoughts on the matter? How would you introduce the Fantastic Four into the MCU?
