Following tonight’s explosive winter finale, Marvel and ABC have released the newest promo for season 4B of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The promo (above) teases a new threat in the form of the android AIDA, played by actress Mallory Jansen, who was revealed to have kidnapped and replaced Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) in the Winter Finale. Perhaps most interestingly, the promo revealed the subtitle for the show’s return as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: LMD. This isn’t entirely too surprising, given where this episode left off with Ghost Rider*, but it’s a nice changeup for the second half of season four. The promo also reveals that AIDA turns against her creator, Holden Radcliffe (John Hannah) and the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team, assuring fans that the show will return with a bang in a little over a month.
Thankfully, while the show won’t be breaking long enough to air a full season of another series, we’ll still be able to get our fix of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team courtesy of the Slingshot mini-series that was announced at the end of tonight’s episode. You can learn more about that by heading over here.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will return Tuesday, January 10 at 10/9c.
*Note: Actor Gabriel Luna, who plays the Robbie Reyes incarnation of Ghost Rider on S.H.I.E.L.D. has teased the possibility of a Ghost Rider spin-off before, so I’d say it’s definitely a possibility following tonight’s episode.
