Here is some rather surprising news, as it seems that we are slowly getting more reveals on what cast members are joining Ant-Man and the Wasp. There have been some debates on why some major characters from SHIELD’s long history have yet to join Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and based on this cool story, it’s looking like they’re being saved for the feature films.
Randall Park, who is most famous for his performance on the ABC show Fresh Off the Boat and HBO’s VEEP, has now joined the Ant-Man sequel as the SHIELD agent, Jimmy Woo. Not much is known exactly about what role the character will play in the upcoming film, but it is safe to say that it may tie-in to the events of the first film. A former SHIELD agent was seen stealing the formula that was used in junction with the Yellowjacket suit, so it would not be too surprising that he may be on the hunt to retrieve this before the Ten Rings, or a still alive splinter group of HYDRA gets their hands on it. This is also the first time in a while that a major SHIELD agent will have a substantial role in the films.
There is also some hope that the addition of this rather famous SHIELD agent may also tie into the events of S.H.I.E.L.D., as in the fourth season it was revealed that the organization has now been reintroduced into the public eye. It would not be too surprising that some former members have rejoined and want to track down former HYDRA traitors to avoid the public image getting any worse than it already is. This is naturally an optimistic tie-in for the franchise, but anything is possible at this point.
What do you guys think? Do you like this casting? How big of a role do you think Jimmy Woo will have?
