We are less than two months away from the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, but it seems the initial marketing for the film has already begun. Just yesterday we got a brand new trailer with a lot of new material, and now we finally have a confirmation on which character will be played by Remy Hii, whose participation in the film was confirmed months ago. According to executive producer Eric Hauserman Carroll:
“He’s the kind of guy that guys like me and Peter hated in high school,” Carroll explained about Brad. “Their hair always looked really good, their clothes always fit the way they were supposed to. He always has something funny to say, and he’s read all the same books as MJ — or at least he lies and says he’s read all the same books as MJ. We wanted to keep that sort of high school soap opera thing alive in this movie, because if you really look back at old Spider-Man comics, that side of it is almost as important as the superhero [side]. It was this winning combination of taking what people loved about, like, Archie and putting it into a superhero comic. He’s not the stereotypical bully, but he is an obstacle. He’s not mean spirited, doesn’t pick on Peter or shove him in lockers, he just happens to make the girl who Peter likes laugh a lot, which makes Peter uncomfortable.”
It looks like Peter is going to find a nemesis in every aspect of his life in this film, even his love life. The trailer did give us a great MJ moment, but it remains to be seen if Peter will be able to keep her attention on himself. If anything, Remy Hii does look like that kind of high school guy that left crushes everywhere he went.
Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters July 2nd.
